How mark43 Is Funded

The Mark 43 Institute operates on a missionary support model. Organizations, churches, and individuals partner financially, participating in the work of discipleship, pastoral guidance, and spiritual formation — much like missionaries throughout the history of the Church.

Supporters are not customers. They are partners in the work of Mark43. Like the benefactors who supported Jesus, they participate in the shared life and mission of the Kingdom of God.

Because this ministry exists through the generosity of God and others, it is structured around generous stewardship of our resources. Twenty-five percent of all financial support is set aside for benevolent service — caring for the poor, walking with those in seasons of hardship, and practicing timely assistance whenever the opportunity arises.

What INItial support Does

The vision is for Mark43 to become self-sustaining (while always reliant on God), as businesses, churches, organizations and individuals utilize our services. Initial support allows me to:

✓ Build relationships and share Mark43’s mission
✓ Offer prayer breakfasts and other mini-conference like events at accessible rates
✓ Develop teaching content aimed at helping people live as disciples
✓ Train leaders and teams, to help them live as disciples on the job
✓ Provide individual pastoral care, for the purpose of discerning God’s actions in their lives
✓ Prepare and offer sermons and talks related to discipleship and life in the Kingdom of God
✓ Practice intentional do-gooding (25% of all giving set aside for generosity)

How Funds Are Used

Up to $100,000 annually:

  • The majority of funds support core ministry work, including modest compensation and operating expenses

  • 25% of all giving is designated for benevolent service and mission

Above $100,000 annually:

  • 100% of additional funds are directed to missions and benevolent initiatives

This structure allows the ministry to operate responsibly while ensuring generosity extends to others... we are all blessed to be a blessing.

How/Why We Prioritize Generosity?

For disciples of Jesus, generosity mustn't be an afterthought, or something practiced when there is "extra." Rather, we give because we know God takes care of us, enabling us to care for others. This is why we set aside 25% of all giving for benevolent service, and 100% of all giving beyond our operating costs.

Why make this structural?

Jesus said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35). You cannot know the truth of this by simply studying his words, you discover the truth by obeying them — by being generous. Building this discipline into our structure (25% of everything, always) ensures generosity stays central. When times are lean, we give. When abundant, we give more. This keeps us dependent on God, focused on serving others, and aligned with Kingdom values.

How it works:

We respond to local needs as the Spirit leads — medical bills, groceries, car repairs, funeral costs, and even glorious surprises. Here’s a brief testimony from a former colleague reflecting on our practice of generosity at a previous church:

Several staff meetings stand out in my memory, but one truly changed my life. Instead of meeting around a table, we got in a van and drove to a Kroger in an economically depressed area of town. Our assignment was to wander around the store, listen to the Spirit, and buy someone's groceries when prompted. (click to read the rest and other stories)

At a former church, we used our benevolence fund to replace a stolen violin for a church member. We also partner with the Mark43 Development Initiative in Nigeria as they work toward supporting farming communities, community development, and providing care for orphans.

Since your giving makes our generosity possible, we document every gift so you can see the impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why aren’t you fundraising?
Certainly, we will need funding. But, inspired by George Müller, I believe God will move people’s hearts to give as they hear about what we are doing. So, we will focus on the work and testimony, and trust God to provide through whomever he calls.

Why are your services also donation-based?After wrestling with what to charge, I (Meshach) sensed the Spirit saying, “Let people give.” So, here we are. A donation-based model allows people and churches to give freely, according to their own capacity, and from grateful hearts. It also allows us to minister to anyone who reaches out.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. The Mark43 Institute is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. You'll receive a receipt for tax purposes.

Where does the money actually go?
Your partnership supports the ministry in three primary ways:

  • providing income for my services

  • covering ministry-related expenses

  • funding benevolent service to the poor and those in need.

From the beginning, 25% of all support goes directly to benevolence, and once core ministry needs are met, additional support goes entirely toward mission and generosity.

Where does the 25% benevolent giving go?
Locally, it helps us care for people in real need — whether that support is planned or arises unexpectedly, as ministry so often does. We want to be able to respond like Jesus did, with compassion and practical help, not simply referrals to other organizations. Globally, it supports the Mark43 Development Initiative in Nigeria, investing in sustainable farming, community development, and care for orphans.

Can I cancel my monthly partnership?
Yes, absolutely. You can adjust or cancel your recurring gift at any time, no questions asked.

Do you publish finances or provide accountability?

Yes. We believe generosity requires transparency. We will provide periodic financial summaries and accountability structures to ensure funds are stewarded wisely.

Will this ministry become self-sustaining?
We prefer to think of it as "God-sustained." As I mentioned above, following Müller's approach, we will rely on God to provide through partners and other means as long as this work honors him. That said, I expect businesses, churches and other organizations to increasingly utilize our services. Your early partnership makes both possible: establishing the ministry while we build the relationships that may lead to service-based revenue.

Can I support in ways beyond financial giving?
Yes! I'm also looking for people who can:

  • Provide introductions to leaders or businesses who might benefit from this ministry

  • Offer testimonials about my ministry over the past 18 years

  • Pray regularly for this work (Moses’ prayer from Psalm 90:12-17 has been one I’ve used consistently)

  • Share about Mark43 with others in your network

How will I know the impact of my partnership?
I'll send regular updates (monthly or quarterly) sharing stories, prayer requests, and ministry highlights. If you sign up for the newsletter, you’ll be sure to get all the updates.
